Rawhides are not so "RAW" as it sounds

Rawhides are not so "RAW" as it sounds

  1.  Rawhides are soaked in chemicals (ash-lye) to strip hair and fat.
  2. Soaked in bleach (hydrogen peroxide) to "clean" and bring out the white colour.
  3. Painted with colour and artificial flavour to make it look "natural" (brown) and appetizing.

Better alternatives to rawhides are fresh raw bones, dehydrated necks, dehydrated feet or yak cheese.
